Jetsetting men's style guru Marcel Floruss takes time out of his busy schedule to try his hand at design.
"I'm being a bad blogger this month," says 25-year-old Marcel Floruss, admitting he missed a fashion show or two during the recent New York men's collections. Hardly. In the few years since he launched his website One Dapper Street, the enterprising--and very dapper--Mr. Floruss has garnered over 300k loyal Instagram followers and grabbed the attention of big name brands such as Louis Vuitton, for whom he recently shot a campaign in South Africa. His appeal? Enviable personal style and a positive attitude that permeates his posts. Trolls beware: negative comments might just get you blocked.
In a sea of style bloggers, Floruss stands out for his clarity of vision and sheer determination. He first arrived in New York as a teen when he was part of a hip-hop dance group. Realizing that dance was a hobby, not a career option (in his eyes) and falling for New York, led Floruss to enroll in a fashion marketing program at FIT, where he interned for the likes of Marc Jacobs and J. Lindenberg. "I was interning at Marc Jacobs in 2013 when I decided to start the blog," says Floruss. "And I realized very quickly, with my marketing background, that it had the potential to be a business, rather than a purely creative, outlet."
Over the last four years, Floruss has charmed the internet with his enviable wardrobe and innate good taste. This spring, after having already successfully launched a shoe line, Floruss is making his menswear design debut with Designow. Guys, while we can't promise that the collection, a three-piece capsule inspired by Floruss' childhood summers spent in Italy, will garner you as many admirers as Floruss, we can assure that you'll look darn good wearing it.
